Shahida Needs Help to Raise Her 4 kids

Shahida Begum, a middle aged women was identified in the city guarding her small children who were begging and selling balloons on the streets of Dhaka. Jibika found her eldest son, Shahin begging infront of a mosque in Dhanmondi after Jumma prayer on Friday. After detail discussion with him it was found that his father Harunur Rashid used to be a rickshaw puller who had become crippled after an accident and usually stays at home without much work. Shahida’s eldest child is a 14 year old daughter who used to work in a supermarket but had been recently discharged due to lack of documentation/paperwork on birth registration. Shahida became a heart patient when she lost her 5 year old son in a busy market. Today they survive on the sales proceedings from the balloons on the streets. Shahida’s youngest child is a daughter (Lucky) who is 17 months old only.

JIBIKA advocated with Shahida begum and it was agreed that she could start a roaming tea business which would include cigarettes, biscuits and battle leaves as well. This would increase their family earning and will help them survive with hope.

JIBIKA wants to donate for the cost of procurement of balloon for the son and also for the tea business for Shahida begum.

Total money required is as follows:

Balloon: BDT 500

Tea Business: BDT 5000 (flask, carrier, ciggertte, battle leaves, tea cups etc.)
